Team
LOCTITE is delighted to announce that Irish driver
Niall Quinn has joined the team for their return
to British Formula 3 in 2008.
Niall, who has competed in Formula BMW in both the
UK and Germany and more recently in F3 in Asia as
well as representing Team Ireland in A1GP, attracted
the attention of team owner Trevor Powell with his
determined driving and super smooth style. Powell
identifies this as essential for a successful F3
driver in Britain, 'I always said that once Niall
got a chance to try an F3 car he would be very quick
and his results in Asian F3 have borne this out.'
commented Powell.
Quinn
took part in 4 races in Asia this winter and recorded
two 2nd places and a 5th where he drove from last
place on the grid, he also recorded a fastest lap
on the way to a second place. Niall is also the
Rookie driver for Team Ireland A1 GP with who he
has been in South Africa and is currently in Mexico
testing.
He
has therefore had to miss the pre-season F3 tests
in Britain but is looking forward to getting back
in a F3 car at Oulton Park a circuit which he considers
amongst his favourites because of its technical
nature. 'It's a shame I've missed the pre-season
test but it was important for me to fulfil my obligations
to Team Ireland and I will be OK at Oulton'
Powell
stated 'we are looking forward to our return to
F3, it's quite a big step for us but we have some
previous experience and successes in F3 with Josh
Fisher in 2005 and we are always the underdogs so
there's no change there, we will put everything
into our season and with the support of Henkel/Loctite
once again, we will enjoy the whole experience.'
