Following
an unusual situation Team LOCTITE found itself running
four cars in the World Finals at the Circuit de
la Comunitat in Valencia, Spain. Jordan Williams,
Kimiya Sato, as originally planned, were joined
by Tom Gladdis and Adam Butler.
Testing
on Friday was a challenge as the two extra cars,
not originally prepared by the team, continued to
present problems which were eventually solved, but
cost the team valuable time in reaching a setup
suitable for everyone.
The
heats were exciting as always and with a few dramas
we found ourselves in the unusual position in the
Final of starting one of our cars from the back
of the grid with Jordan being the highest qualifier
in 22nd position. Kimi had been forced onto the
grass during his final heat and was behind Jordan
in 28th with Tom two rows back in 33rd.
The
final was a blast with Jordan, Kimi and Adam getting
very good starts and Tom holding station. Jordan
lunged down the inside of his former team mate Sam
Abay, now with top team Double R Racing, this manoeuvre
was a classic and Jordan never looked back from
this point finishing 9th overall, the second highest
finishing UK driver setting the fourth fastest lap
in the process, ahead of ALL the other UK Championship
drivers.
Kimi
also fought his way up overtaking more cars than
any other driver in the field and recording a fine
12th place finish for the team.
Tom
hung in there with rear tyres totally trashed he
finished 23rd overall from a field of 36 in his
first season in Formula BMW with little or no previous
racing experience.
Adam
was progressing very well and had moved up several
places and looked on for a storming finish, however
a minor mistake in turn one ended in the gravel
and he was unable to restart, being classified in
26th place.
Team
LOCTITE would like to thank its drivers, partners
and race team crew as well as the Formula BMW World
Final organisers, for a wonderful experience in
Valencia and now look forward to the Formula BMW
Europe series in 2008.
Our
2008 driver line up will be announced shortly when
testing of potential drivers and contract negotiations
are completed.
